背景：
这次被我翻出来解释的这段 Noldorin (诺多林语)，其实完全不是新东西：这段话是托尔金在 Thror's Map 上的一段注解，这份地图又在最近出版的The Art of the Hobbit中出现。Noldorin 在托老早期的设定中，是诺多精灵的语言，为 Sindarin 的前身，与 Sindarin 相当相似，在分析 Sindarin 语法或词汇上都有非常重要的地位。
说明：
1) tail 为 tâl "foot" 的复数，因此 leben tail意为 "five feet"「五英呎」；brand "high"「高的」，i annon "the gate"「这个门」；整句意思是 "five feet high [is] the gate"「此门高为五英呎」。
* 此句的连系动词 (或称 be 动词) is 被省略，所以或许 Sindarin 也可省略连系动词？又见句子的主词倒装，在连系动词之后，是否表示 Sindarin 连系动词的主词在其后，或因为此句子为诗体，所以托老刻意倒装。我们应当可以造出这样的句子：Caran meril "red [is] a rose"「玫瑰是红的」、hwiniol i barf "fantastic [is] the book"「这书是荒诞的」
* leben tail 的名词部分 tail "feet" 虽然为 leben "five" 修饰，但 tail 并不被触发任何变音，故我们是否可假定 Sindarin 的数词修饰名词时，并不会对该名词触发变音？例如 odog hadhodrim "seven Dwarves"「七个矮人」、pae doer taen i ven "ten league long [is] the road"「此路长10里格 (约30英哩)」


2) ar "and"「和，以及」；neledh "three"「三」。而之后三个字汇 neledhi gar godref 就有争议：
* neledhi: 这里采 David Kiltz 和 David Salo 的看法，也就是 neledhi 可能是 ne- "into" + LED "go, fare, travel" > *neledh- "to go into"「进去」，neledhi 应为 neledh- 的不定词，可能作为目的性的表达，也就是 "to go into"「为了进去」。
* gar：由於 neledhi 被假定为不定词，因此 gar 就应为句子中的主要动词，gar 若真为动词，因其形式来看，则很有可能是第三人称单数现在式 (= gâr)，之所以单数的原因可能是因为把「三人」neledh 看作是一个团体，这在英语或其他语言也有相同的用法，并不特别。字意方面，目前有三个说法：
(1) 3AR- "have, hold" > *gar- "be able to, can"，三单现在式 gâr，符合托老古英文的翻译 "may"；
(2) KAR- "make, do" > car-，三单现在式 câr，表达可以做到、完成，因前面主词 neledh 而被触发软化变音成 *gâr (见托老另一个句子 guren bêd enni "my heart tells me"，句中的 bêd 原为 pêd)；
(3) gar 意为 "go, went"「去」( 见托老更早期另个 Noldorin 句子 ven Sirion gar meilien "... toward Sirion went laughing"，此处 gar 很有可能也是 "went" 的意思)。
若 (1) 对，那麼我们就硬生生多了个方便的单字 gar- "be able to, can"，可造个句子如*gerin maded lim "I can eat fast"「我可以吃得快」，不需要再从 Quenya 借 *pol- "can" 来使用；若 (2) 成立，也帮我们扩充更多 car- "make, do" 的用法，例如 min caun maetho i 'waith veleg gâr "one mayor may manage the big city"「单以一位领导来管理这大部队是可行的」；关於说法 (3)，最大问题是把 gar 解读为 "go, went" 的字源根据，Patrick H. Wynne 认为可与托老更早期发明的语言，同受威尔斯语启发的侏儒语的 gwara-/gwada- "wander, roam, travel (far)" (PE11:43) 有关，而另外新语料 PE17 也有 gwaen "I go" 这字 (PE17:148)。我个人倾向 (2) 的可能性。
* godref: 可能由 go- "together" + tre- "through" + -f (副词字尾) 组成，意为 "through together, abreast"「一起通过」
故整句直译可能是：
Leben tail brand i annon ar neledh neledhi gar godref
"Five feet high [is] the gate and three to-go-into [may] do together-through"

经过上述的讨论后，或许我们可以造出一些实用的例子：
* Athambada Yushan ar pen ambado nan gaw dín gâr ne thâd oer "Easy-to-climb is Yushan and one may climb to the top in two days"「玉山很容易爬，两天内要攻顶是可能的」

* úhael i gaun ar e vaetho i 'waith ú-gâr "Unwise is the leader and he may not manage the people"「主管是白痴，靠他来管这部门是行不通的」
* Penin lû ovor ar im deitho Edhellen Ilaurui ú-gerin ned oer bain "I don't have much time and I may not write Daily Elvish all the days"「我没有很闲，要我每天写每日精灵语是不太可能的」(XDDD)
