To master a knowlege means your brain undersand something and build some links in it. The role of teacher is not to "fill" sth in aomebody' mind （which is not how our brain works and impossible).
The teacher are just here to illustrate the knoeledge in a more sensible, organized, clear way.
And during that, the student should "dive" their mind, motivate it, process the information and "understand" them. If anyone expect just sitting there, and really understand or learn sth, them will be upset by the results.
