I don’t even think Cheeks really did that bad tonight overall. The only gripe I had was allowing Dallas to start the 4th on a 10-0 run, taking the deficit from 3 to 13 without ever calling a timeout in between. You can’t just let a team take a one possession game up to double digits in the 4th without doing anything to stop it.
Other than that and some questionable substitutions I don’t think he coached too badly. I just don’t think his system works whether he coach’s it properly or not.
The whole gameplan seems based on forcing turnovers and running. And when that works we get stops and score and can build a double digit lead, or come back from a double digit deficit. However, those stretches only occur once or twice in a game, if that. Once those runs end, there’s no foundation left in place to continue competing at a professional level. We can’t get real defensive stops and can’t score in the halfcourt. Basically his whole system is all icing and no cake.

Everything about this game looks like we are showing players. The rotation that Cheeks has been using, to me, point to that. I agree on Cheeks picking a 4th quarter rotation. That would go far in stopping these collapses. Dumars is up to something which is a worry at this point. The past three games look like Smith is going to be the one to go. Maybe with Singler or Stuckey. Outside of that these past few games don’t make any logical basketball sense. I think the tank is on and Smith gets traded.

Line ups are one thing.. And it is a good point by Tim that it is NOT the starting line up that should have the Pistons worried .. That is why I have to follow that up by saying that the real problem is the system which Cheeks is having the team run .. Most of the time it is 1 on 1 garbage .. And that is why .. when in the 4th quarter .. when teams turn up the pressure as high they can .. that is the kind of style that does not work unless you have an ALPHA STAR like Kevin Durrant or Lebron James on your team. Hence our team falls apart in the 4th quarter …
Especially liked the point by Tim that Brandon Jennings looks more interested in padding his stat line with assists than running an offense .. Perhaps likely that is because we don’t run a system worth a darn . just players playing real loose … looking to run .. all good on that but far too often 1 on 1 in half-court ..

Griz, if you watch OKC they barely run any plays at all, they just run everything through Durant and let him roll. Cheeks being an assistant at OKC is doing the same thing here, but hello McFly, we don’t have Durant to take his guy one on one each time down the floor.

Dacatta ….Agreed … It just kills me when I see everyone standing around .. No moving the ball .. no players moving .. That will kill you in the 4th quarter especially and it is .. Wish we had KD, Jackson, Adams and Lambs …

i believe the real definition of a Head Coach is to get wins… utilize players… give them good positions.. give them morale, give them the chance to succeed… but none of these happened right now… we lost alot! 17-27! something must be DONE!
im not happy right now! why do we have to play like this every game!

Do nothing if there is no trade that makes us better in the future. Accept that we blew it with the current roster assembled by DUMBARS. Time to clean house Smith and Jennings, but Smith goes first. Tank the rest of the way to keep our 2014 pick ala Golden State in 2011. Must keep the pick, forget the playoffs. The pick/player is at least another valuable asset we can use in any trade. That would be the smart thing to do, not sure if a Dumars is that smart though considering his contract is up this season.

Once again, shot distribution. How is it Monroe only recieved 13 shots when he was having his way out there tonight? Also, when Singler logs in more minutes than either Drummond or Monroe I think we could officially call this a tank job.
