Steven Moffat has confirmed Matt Smith’s Doctor’s place in the Doctor Who chronology, saying that he is indeed the 13th incarnation of the Time Lord.
Smith was originally treated as the show’s 11th Doctor, but this was thrown into question by the introduction of John Hurt’s War Doctor along with David Tennant’s aborted regeneration in 2008 episode The Stolen Earth.
Clearing things up and raising interesting questions about Peter Capaldi’s upcoming role, Moffat told Radio Times: ‘We’ll find out [in the Christmas special] that Matt Smith is actually the 13th Doctor. Although everyone knows that the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times.
大意就是魔法特已经确认马特的博士的确是时间领主的第十三次重生。马特原先一直被认为是第十一任博士，但这一切都是个疑问因为JOHN HURT的战争博士还有DT在2008年那次流产的重生。问到PC将来的角色，魔法特说我们会在圣诞特辑里发现马特其实是第十三任博士。尽管所有人都知道博士只能重生12次。

够狠……不过这也解释了很多奇怪的事情，比如MS说他1200多岁了，墓地，还有宋江的时间线……本来就觉得他的时间好像晚了几百年，不知道他该对应什么地球时间，这样倒是解释通了。不过魔法特，你真的不觉得你的timey wimey有点过分了么？时间线都快被你缠成死结了好伐。

同时解释了为什么圣诞特辑会有一个新博士而MS还会出演第八季，新博士是塞在他前面的嘛。怎么总觉得哪里怪怪的呢？博士不会老，演员会啊，魔法特你这么早就把各种博士的面孔都搬出来，几年后你准备怎么办啊。
