The Education Ministry officially issued two papers on reform of China's high school academic proficiency test today. The breakthrough of this reform is to give students the right to choose three subjects that show their performance on academic tests, based on their own advantages and the college's requirements. These results will be added to their gaokao's final score in the college entrance examinations. Politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and other subjects are among the three subjects that can be chosen. The three can include subjects in the liberal arts and sciences. In addition, each subject to be added to the gaokao score will be tested when the subject's course is finished at the end of the school year. Previously, students could only take the tests of all gaokao subjects at the end of their third/final year of high school.
