Sally Hawkins talks on Maudie (2016): I think what attracted me to the role of Maud was- everything about her. I first was sent a picture of Maud by Aisling- from Aisling, she just sent me a picture when she was- an iconic picture when she was by a window, about 65 years old. And this woman, these hands, incredible hands and surrounded by her art work. I don't really need to even read the script! The more I learnt, the more I sort of- discovered about her... Just, yeah, you would be an idiot not to play this part! Aisling is a real great friend. She's a great, such a master filmmaker.
