Carpe Diem! Those are the 2 words that totally describe Sofia Boutella, professional dancer and leading actress in the new movie Streetdance 2! Today, HollywoodPQ has the opportunity to interview this pretty lady at the interncontinental Absynthe bar .
What is the difference between dancing in a movie like Streetdance 2 and
dancing for artists like Madonna, Gwen Stefani or Mariah Carey?
Dancing on stage with an artist and making a movie are 2 completely different things. When I worked with Madonna she gave the dancers the opportunity to express themselves as actors. On stage, she told a story and gave the dancers the responsibility to interpret everything and to do something which they had never done. I rediscovered my passion for comedy by being on stage with her.
1. What is your current facebook status? (single, in a relationship, it's complicated, ...)
I don't have a Facebook account, but I am on Twitter (@Sofisia). I don't really like to talk about my personal life ... but I am not married (laughs)
2. Are you a good girl or a bad girl?
It depends... on what day. People have different moods on different moments, and everybody's human. But that doesn't mean that I'm moody. There are moments in life where you just feel a certain way.. and besides artists often make use of their art to blow off steam. For me, it depends on how I feel, on which side of the bed I woke up on I think, or by something that happens at that moment.
3. Where can we bump into you, when you come to Montréal.
In my hotel (laughs). Unfortunately, I don't know much in Montréal. It's the third time I'm here, and the previous 2 times was when I was on tour with Madonna. I was always working when I came here so I didn't have time to visit anything. I once took a walk, on my day off and I found it really charming. But it wasn't long enough to know it well. On the other hand, the people here are extremely friendly, but I guess you already know that, don't you? It's incredible! Sometimes in other parts of the world, the people seem aggressive, but here it's a harem of peace. People are really nice.
4. What song do you keep listening to these days?
I play Madonna's song 'Gang Bang' a lot, I love it! I also like 'Love Spent'. And since it was my birthday a few days ago (3 April) I also listen to Birthday Song.
Anyway, since Madonna's album just came out, I listen 2 it over and over again.
5. Which person intimidates you the most?
God! Yes, I really believe in God.
6. Who is your sex symbol?
Marlon Brando… because we were born on the same day (laughs) I think he has a crazy personality. He's a bit of a nutcase.
7. What was the craziest thing a fan ever did?
Some fans have given me presents, but they were all very nice. I've never had to deal wwith crazy or aggressive people, and I hope it stays that way.
8. What would you do if it was your last day on earth?
Wow! Do you think the world will end in december? It's hard to say.. I would definetely spend time with my family. But I think it's important to keep doing fun things. To laugh. It's never really finished. I don't believe that your life is over once you're dead. I think it's a new beginning and that life starts again.
9. Are you cold-blooded or a hot-head?
Sometimes I can be hot blooded & I easily loose control. But sometimes I'm very cool. I have learned to be calmer now that I am older ...
10. How much time do you spend in the bathroom when you go out?
It can go from 30 seconds up to 1 hour. It depends on how feminine I wanna look that night and if I want to put on make-u****ot. I have always enjoyed getting dressed, since I was very small, and I always put on costumes and lay dress up. So I always have a nice time getting ready before I go out.
11. Smoker or non-smoker?
Non-smoker
12. What is your current mood?
I' m present, very present. And happy! I live the present moment. Present moment for the promotion of the film StreetDance 2. And also present moment with you!
13. Do you eat meat or are you a vegetarian?
I don't eat a lot of meat, but I do eat it. I eat a lot of vegetables, fruit and rice but I'm not a big meat eater.
